Dragon Ball Super: Episode 131 Review

Spoilers

Warning the following review may contain spoilers for thi episode.

Here it is folk the ending of Dragon Ball Super. I know I am excited for this episode, picking up where we left off in episode 130. Goku is exhausted and was sure to be knocked out by Jiren after the intense fight leaving both warriors drained. While at the last minute No 17 and Frieza swoop in to save Goku from annihilation and knock out.

At this point in the Tournament of Power everyone is pushed to their limits and can barely go much further. Goku, is on one of the floating islands trying to recover after his body is left drained and beaten from using Ultra Instinct. This leaves the final fight to Frieza and No 17 vs a beaten Jiren. Frieza and No 17 show incredible teamwork in facing off against Jiren. They were able to push him to limit, and at one-point break Jiren’s spirit.

With this being the last episode of Super until they release the movie, and hopefully new Dragon Ball anime. They pulled out all the stops with the animation, delivering a great finish for the Dragon Ball Super series. While there wasn’t any Ultra Instinct to animate this time, there was plenty of explosions and limit breakthrough power ups that were well done..

Frieza and No 17, had almost taken out Jiren leaving Universe 7 the victor. However, with some final encouraging words from Toppo. Jiren was able to muster up some final fighting spirit, with Frieza and No 17 holding on barely behind a shield. Goku uses Instant Transmission in order jump into the fray and help with the shield. After some minor bickering Goku and Frieza tag team on Jiren, securing the victory for Universe 7.

With this Universe 7 was the sole surviving Universe and giving one wish to No 17 for being the Last Man Standing. As I have been saying since the Tournament of Power, somehow the wish will be to restore the destroyed Universes. No 17 showing his character change for the better made this wish surprising just about everyone. If a selfless wish had not been made well it would be the end.

Some worthwhile mentions, is Frieza seems to be having a character change for the better (time will tell). Beerus, honored the deal and had Whis restore Frieza to life as a reward for the hard work and not betraying everyone. It also appears Goku can not access Ultra Instinct, and it was only because of how far his limit was pushed.
